About The Position

The Engineering Scientist position at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) involves providing essential support for software packages utilized by various customers of TACC. This role is critical in ensuring that the software is effectively built and deployed on compute clusters and virtual machines, which are necessary for data collection and analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for mentoring TACC staff and researchers in the use of the deployed software and services, ensuring that users can effectively navigate and utilize the systems in place. In addition to software support, the Engineering Scientist will provide database support for users in open and compliant data systems. This includes creating and managing database schemas and tables, loading data, and granting role-based access to specific users. The role also requires mentoring researchers in best practices for data management, preparing detailed reports on system deployment, and ensuring that project goals are met promptly and accurately. The candidate will also be tasked with preparing reviewed papers, technical reports, and documentation related to data analytic techniques and systems, optimizations, and novel applications across various domains supported by TACC.
