Caterpillar’s BCP division is hiring for Engineering Project Team Leader in CMDC location. Role Summary: The Engineering Project Team Leader in the SWL Product Group manages multiple or complex engineering projects involving several functions and, in some cases, multiple sites. This role is responsible for coordinating cross‑functional resources, driving disciplined execution, managing cost and schedule performance, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders and customers throughout the project lifecycle of the full SWL product portfolio (910-938). Requirements

  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
  • Products and Services: Knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Team Management: Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams .
  • Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience managing multiple or complex engineering or technical projects
  • Strong planning skills with the ability to contribute at operational, tactical, and strategic levels
  • Working knowledge of Small Wheel Loader products and services and how they are developed, delivered, and supported
  • Working knowledge of Collision Mitigation systems and autonomy assist features, including hardware, software and design principles.
  • Experience in applying quality management and continuous improvement practices
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, including leading cross‑functional teams through complex issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences
  • Experience working directly with customers or internal partners to manage expectations and service delivery

Responsibilities

  • Develop project scope to address business challenges and opportunities related to the full SWL Product line (910-938) for Safety, Assist and Semi-autonomy systems including Collision Mitigation.
  • Lead execution of complex projects with a sense of urgency , proactively monitoring progress, cost, and risk
  • Communicate project status clearly and openly to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and shared accountability
  • Influence project staffing and support the development, motivation, and performance of project team members
  • Engage directly with customers and internal partners, maintaining a customer‑back mindset and managing expectations
  • Apply project, program, and quality management practices to drive operational excellence, velocity, and predictability
  • Lead structured problem‑solving efforts, capture lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement
  • Support design‑for‑manufacturability (DFM) efforts to improve quality, manufacturability, and cost
  • Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring risks are identified early and addressed proactively
