About The Position

CleanFiber is seeking a dedicated and dependable Engineering Project Manager to lead and execute capital and engineering projects critical to CleanFiber’s growth, from plant optimization initiatives in Buffalo to site builds in new regions. This role bridges strategy and execution, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and aligned with operational and financial goals. The ideal candidate is hands-on, thrives in a startup manufacturing environment, and can balance tactical project management with strategic foresight. Position can be a remote.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
  • 5+ years of experience managing engineering or capital projects in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-million-dollar projects from design through commissioning.
  • Strong knowledge of project management tools (Smartsheet, MS Project, or similar).
  • Experience managing contractors, EPC firms, and vendors.
  • Understanding of controls/automation systems (Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, etc.) preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage capital projects from cradle to grave, including the supervision of vendors and contractors; ensure contract deliverables are met.
  • Lead the development of project scopes, preliminary budgets, detailed cost estimates, equipment alignment with engineering standards and objectives.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, budgets, and timelines; proactively track risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Facilitate cross-functional coordination with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Logistics.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and operations teams to scope technical requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive standardization of systems, processes, and equipment across multiple sites.
  • Support commissioning, startup, and handoff of new systems to plant operations.
  • Partner with Finance to monitor project budgets, capital spend, and ROI.
  • Identify cost savings, efficiency gains, and scalability opportunities.
  • Translate strategic growth initiatives into executable engineering roadmaps.
