About The Position

This role provides strategic leadership, governance and oversight for JM Capital projects, being accountable for successful development, execution, and delivery of large-scale initiatives that drive business growth and operational excellence. You will lead a team of senior-level capital project engineers and managers, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Through collaboration with business units and executive leadership, this role will ensure projects are safely and consistently executed on time, within budget, and delivering business scope aligned with JM’s strategic objectives. This position can be based out of the following locations: Littleton, CO, Waterville, OH and Defiance, OH.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (advanced degree preferred) with 10+ years of experience in industrial/manufacturing environments.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale capital projects portfolios within the manufacturing and/or industrial sectors exceeding $200M
  • Proven track record on single Project/Program exceeding $100M investment delivering safe, on time, within budget and seamlessly functional solutions.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience managing senior-level engineering and project management teams, including remote and cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in capital project financials including ROI modeling, cost-benefit evaluations and knowledge on accounting related to assets capitalization/depreciation.
  • Strong knowledge of construction-related environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results under pressure while managing multiple complex projects.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, including international assignments.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodation as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of JM’s large capital projects, from concept development and feasibility analysis through execution and commissioning.
  • Lead and mentor a team of senior capital project engineers and managers, ensuring high performance, technical excellence, and adherence to best practices and processes.
  • Serve as the primary decision-maker for project prioritization, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies across major capital initiatives.
  • Drive and enforce capital project governance frameworks by establishing and leading a Project Management Office (PMO), including stage-gate processes, risk assessments, communications and compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Drive alignment between capital project execution and JM’s long-term business strategy, ensuring optimal return on investment and operational impact.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on project performance, financial forecasts, and risk profiles to business units and senior leadership.
  • Champion and lead standardization of capital project methodologies, tools, and processes for the life cycle of a project across the organization, Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery efficiency, cost control, and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with engineering firms, contractors, and suppliers to ensure scalability and resource flexibility.
  • Build and sustain a high-performing engineering capital projects organization, emphasizing leadership development, technical expertise, and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and collaboration within the team and across business units.
  • Act as a visible leader and role model, promoting JM’s core values and leadership attributes in all interactions.
  • Strong cross functional collaboration and influential leadership to enable effective and efficient project delivery.
