Associate Engineer (IGT MRO / FAA Repair Station) Base Position Function: Responsible for technical & production support, process & product development and optimization of Aerospace and Industrial gas turbine Engines, modules, and other assigned processing areas. Leading projects to produce new repairs and processes; utilizing Lean tools and methodologies to positively impact the business metrics.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility, preferred FAA repair station.
  • Previous experience in an engineering role supporting the development of technical solutions for process development and production support.
  • Previous experience supporting continuous improvement of assigned process or product maturity.
  • Proven ability to technically support delivery of projects while interfacing effectively with other technical team members and other organizational functions.
  • Proven experience of supporting delivery through process design, best practices, and technology projects.
  • Proven experience of problem-solving technical and production issues to resolution.
  • Typically, 0 to 1 years’ experience in Aerospace or Industrial gas turbine engine engineering (design, manufacture, or repair).
  • Familiar with gas turbine design and manufacturing methodologies.
  • Understanding various measuring techniques including CMM, white-light/laser scanning, gages, ..
  • Familiar with principal mechanical engineering and materials concepts.
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (NX preferred).
  • Knowledge of generic airworthiness protocols and standards.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, CI and 6 sigma methodology
  • Working knowledge of quality systems and documentation management.
  • Working knowledge of program management tools and skill set.
  • Ability to work well with everchanging priorities and or situations.
  • Thoughtful and effective communications skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite.
  • BS Engineering in a Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other related engineering field. BS in engineering requirement may be substituted with relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Development of repair processes for turbine, compressor, and combustor components.
  • Optimize the production process, product design using a robust lean problem-solving methodology, with quantifiable impact to business metrics.
  • Develop KPIs to effectively manage process and product outcomes.
  • Utilize project management skills to lead assigned projects/programs to successful completion considering technical, budgetary, manpower and schedule requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment to develop repair processes which meet site, Chromalloy and customer requirements for cost, performance, and durability.
  • Engage with the other engineers at the site to execute projects and develop robust solutions impacting site operational and financial performance, while positively impacting the end customer.
  • Assist in making technical decisions on process design and provide definition to the team to ensure mutual success.
  • Owns technical aspects of assigned components and processes for site.
  • Identify, develop and implement tooling/equipment improvements. Troubleshoot process/production problems and implement actions/solutions, monitor sustainability of actions and report out results.
  • Prepare accurate written technical reports, specifications, procedures and manuals.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations of work to external and internal customers.
  • Assist Training of less experienced technical staff and operators.
  • Works in engine depot and collaborates with operations to realize site goals.
  • Occasional travel required.
