About The Position

As an Engineering Principal Project Manager, you will lead and manage capital projects from initiation to closure. Accountable for project execution and milestone definition, with minimal guidance. Your responsibilities include overseeing design, engineering, regulatory permitting, risk management, scheduling, proposal requests, documentation, purchase orders, budget tracking, safe execution, construction management, and stakeholder communication. Collaborate closely with sponsors, production heads, operational excellence, supply chain, compliance, quality, EHS, IT, HR, procurement, legal, engineering firms, suppliers, contractors, and local authorities.

Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering with 5+ years of related experience, or MS degree with 3+ years of related experience. Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical engineering degree preferred.
  • Must be open to traveling for projects potentially assigned to various US locations; estimated at maximum 20%.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMI PMP) or ability to obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Manage capital projects up to $100MM, ensuring successful completion across various complexities and geographies.
  • Oversee design firms for projects with fees up to $10MM.
  • Safely execute projects involving multiple contractors and up to 100 tradesmen.
  • Support corporate capital expenditure budgets exceeding $300MM annually.
  • Complete 1 to 10 capital projects annually.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers and support staff.
  • Plan and monitor project timelines, ensuring compliance and timely completion.
  • Utilize formal processes to manage resources, budgets, risks, and changes.
  • Maintain transparency on project status regarding budget, schedule, scope, and risks.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for timely project start-up and commissioning.
  • Implement lean and value-added project management practices.
  • Provide engineering solutions and technical support to other departments.
  • Open communication, including the ability to disagree openly and drive the team to a decision.
  • Act as the owner; drive to decisions and act on behalf of the project’s best interest.
