As an Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) at Amazon Data Services, Inc., you will play a crucial role in maintaining and operating the critical infrastructure systems of some of the world's most powerful data centers. You will be part of a dedicated team of front-line responders who ensure that our data centers are prepared to handle any situation. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will be involved in testing and implementing the latest technology and work practices to meet the evolving demands of the market. Your responsibilities will include hands-on troubleshooting and operation of various electrical and mechanical equipment, such as stand-by diesel generators, switchgear, UPS systems, power distribution units (PDUs), air handling units (AHUs), chillers, cooling towers, and building automation systems. You will be tasked with driving innovation while reducing operational costs, assisting in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events, and performing essential maintenance and operations on all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. In this role, you will also manage contractors and vendors on-site, ensuring that all work performed adheres to established practices and local legislation. You will be responsible for maintaining data center critical infrastructure equipment to ensure 99.999% uptime of our cloud computing portfolio. The work schedule may vary based on site needs, with shifts potentially lasting up to 12 hours and may include on-call rotations. You will be expected to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, walking on uneven terrain, and working at heights, all while adhering to safety procedures.
