About The Position

The Engineering Mechanic I is an advanced level opportunity on the Facility Operations team at MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Network. In this role, the mechanic will ensure MultiCare patients and families have the best possible experience when visiting facilities across the health system. MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Network is the state-designated Level II Pediatric Trauma Center and the only pediatric hospital in Washington’s South Sound, providing a comprehensive network of care designed specifically for children and adolescents. The vision is to be the safest, highest-quality place for children to receive care, where every child has a medical home and every family feels supported. For more than 70 years, MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Network has cared for children and families across the South Sound, anchored by an 82-bed pediatric hospital in Tacoma, offering a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 24-hour pediatric-only Emergency Department and a state-designated Level II Pediatric Trauma Center. As a comprehensive pediatric health network, Mary Bridge delivers expert, family-centered care across inpatient, outpatient and specialty services, supported by multidisciplinary teams dedicated to the unique needs of every child and family.

Requirements

  • Accomplished in six of the following basic areas: electrical, plumbing/mechanical, machine shop, general building maintenance, steam distribution, electronics, pneumatic tube system, AGVS, CPD equipment, fire alarm initiating and suppression systems, med gas, beds, and nurse call
  • Minimum five (5) years maintenance experience
  • Current Washington State Drivers License; and proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MHS Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state
  • Medical gas ASSE 6040 certification after hire
  • ASHE Certified Health Care Physical Environment Worker required within 6 months of hire
  • On Call Required

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Certificate of Licensure in one or more of the above identified areas

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and major/minor repairs on facility equipment and systems
  • Conduct daily operations and initiate corrective action
  • Assist in training and mentorship of other staff
  • Collaborate with supervisor in obtaining bids and inspections on externally run projects
  • Partner with a service-oriented attitude and professional integrity
