About The Position

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others. The IoT footprint inside a Starbucks store is growing fast, from espresso machines and ovens to cold beverage equipment and someone needs to own the platform that connects, monitors, and manages all of it. As an Engineering Manager on the IoT team, you’ll lead the engineers building the IoT layer that turns tens of thousands of stores into intelligent, instrumented environments. Your team will design the systems that collect telemetry from connected devices at the edge, enable predictive maintenance before equipment fails during a morning rush, and give store partners real-time visibility into the health of their equipment. This is a leadership role where you’ll build and grow a high-performing team while making deeply technical architecture decisions about protocols, device lifecycle management, and data pipelines that operate under real-world constraints - limited bandwidth, intermittent connectivity, and hardware you don’t control. If you’ve ever wanted to run an IoT platform where downtime isn’t theoretical but means a store can’t make a latte, this is the job.
