As a global leader in cybersecurity, CrowdStrike protects the people, processes and technologies that drive modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission hasn’t changed — we’re here to stop breaches, and we’ve redefined modern security with the world’s most advanced AI-native platform. We work on large scale distributed systems, processing almost 3 trillion events per day and this traffic is growing daily. Our customers span all industries, and they count on CrowdStrike to keep their businesses running, their communities safe and their lives moving forward. We’re also a mission-driven company. We cultivate a culture that gives every CrowdStriker both the flexibility and autonomy to own their careers. We’re always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community and each other. Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you. About the Role: The Sensor Event Runtime (SER) team is responsible for cross-platform C & C++ code that lives at the center of the Falcon Sensor. This includes storage, correlation, filtering, rate-limiting and deduplication logic along with core bus instrumentation and test tooling. These capabilities are vital to support the data gathering and processing logic underlying all of CrowdStrike’s endpoint security capabilities The team is currently small and senior, and will be growing over the course of the next few years. CrowdStrike is growing rapidly and you will be instrumental in hiring, retention, and growth of the team. You will work cross-functionally with your peers in the engineering organization: engineering management, product management, program management, support, and others. Your impact is not bounded and you will be enabled to engage and collaborate with the many teams that rely on the Falcon endpoint and the data it produces. This is a remote role open to applicants in the United States or Canada. The team is spread between the west coast of North America and Australia. Being in Pacific time or working on that schedule is necessary. As a remote-first company, you must bring your excellent verbal and written communication skills to bear when you are working with your engineering teams and cross-functional teams across the globe. What You’ll Do: This position will be responsible for managing a team of software engineers. This includes: Prioritizing work and managing team workload, project resourcing & coordination, including saying “no” and “not yet” when appropriate Keeping the team on track and finding ways to adjust when surprises happen Detailed participation in code and design reviews, providing technical guidance and feedback to team members. Gathering and communicating status about how and what the team is doing Communicating and coordinating with other teams, from individual contributors to executives Triaging customer support and user tickets and building a relationship with those teams Collaborating with senior engineers and product management to shape roadmap and technical strategy Balancing concrete and immediate use cases with longer term technical strategy Helping resolve interpersonal conflicts Coaching engineers and guiding their career growth via frequent feedback Hiring, interviewing, and occasionally sourcing candidates CrowdStrike is a computer security company, but we do not require candidates for this role to have prior security industry experience. We will mentor and train in security topics as needed. We do expect a strong interest in CrowdStrike's mission and a willingness to engage with the needs of our product teams and customers. Engineering Managers at Crowdstrike are hands-on technical leaders. We don’t expect Engineering Managers to write code on the critical path to shipping features, but you will need to be able to make sense of the team’s PRs. You'll need to develop in-depth knowledge of our system architecture, data flows, APIs, test processes, and dependencies, so that you can reason about our team's work, understand and explain its impact on other teams, and to assist in troubleshooting. Some travel will be required, primarily to the United States, for in-person meetings. This will likely be 2-3 times per year.
