About The Position

The Engineering Manager for SDKs at Stainless will lead product development for the SDK generator, overseeing a team of engineers to create idiomatic wrapper libraries from OpenAPI specs. Requirements

• Experience managing a high-performing engineering team in an early- or growth-stage startup.
• Hands-on technical expertise with a deep understanding of the team's work.
• Experience in recruiting engineers for the team.
• Experience working on libraries, such as building a popular open-source project or designing internal abstractions.

Responsibilities

• Support engineers in shipping new SDK generator features quickly and achieving high level of technical quality.
• Hold the bar of 'what library would an expert in the language create if they had infinite time'.
• Oversee development of new SDK generators for languages such as C#, PHP, Rust, Swift, and Elixir.
• Drive the core 'compiler' design to support multiple programming languages, library features, and edge cases.
• Scale the SDK build platform to manage hundreds of concurrent customer builds.
• Partner with OpenAI, Anthropic, and others on the design of future APIs and their optimal support in SDKs.
• Act as editor-in-chief of technical documentation.
• Mentor high-slope engineers toward rapid career growth.
• Source, interview, and close top engineering talent.
