About The Position

Amerlux, a leader in architectural lighting, designs and manufacturing of innovative interior and exterior lighting solutions for commercial, retail and supermarket sectors is looking for a Engineering Manager to join our team in our Oakland NJ facility. This position requires being on-site five days per week. The Engineerin Manager for Project and Variant engineering is an integral part of the Design Engineering Team in a fast-paced and growing global Lighting industry. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Business Development & Engineering and works closely with the Architectural Systems R&D Teams to execute major job and product variant projects from specification to production.

Requirements

  • 8+ years engineering experience, 5 years at a lighting/LED manufacturer.
  • Ability to review and understand lighting specifications, concept drawings, RCPs, electrical, ceiling and architectural details.
  • Required knowledge of sheet metal, die cast, plastic mold and extruded part design; Understanding of LED sources, drivers and lighting components.
  • Autodesk Inventor 3D.
  • Good communication skills required - effective interaction/collaboration with resources, vendors, partners, and designers locally and other global locations.
  • Ability to organize, assign, direct and manage schedules and work flow for the variant team to deliver lighting projects from drawing through BOMs in timely and error free manner.
  • Effective use and manage personal time while juggling various priorities and managing other peoples time.

Responsibilities

  • Manage team of Project Engineers and Drafts people in the timely and accurate execution of project and variant opportunities.
  • Using Smart Sheet tools, focus on managing project assessment, distribution, loading and execution of work to the team to deliver all phases of the project within company stated lead times.
  • Lead interface with customer support and operations to ensure project timelines and schedules are aligned.
  • Interface as required with Sales, Product Managers, Customer Support, Purchasing and Quotations in the timely execution of our made-to-measure project business.
  • Work with Lighting Consultants and Architects as required to understand project specifications and communicate Amerlux product details and capabilities.
  • Work with Product Management and Marketing to support the custom/variant process from assessment, pricing and lead-time analyses.
  • Product Documentation: Submittal Drawings, Bills of Material Structure; part drawings; assembly documentation; installation sheets and help generate variant specification data sheet.
  • Work with Director of Architectural Systems and IT to help facilitate the development and transition of the team to the new Cincom CPQ system.
  • Manage various priorities by optimum use of personal time, and the time of direct reports.
  • Other duties as deemed priority and appropriate by the Company and management.
