About The Position

Collins Aerospace Global Engineering & Technology Center in Puerto Rico (GETC-PR) is looking to hire an Engineering Manager technically experienced in Change Management, Configuration Management, Engineering Change Request and Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) processes to join our team. In this role, you will be in a cross disciplinary team environment and will need to be able to thrive on tackling challenges, as the position requires the use of problem-solving skills in a hands-on work atmosphere to address problems and implement appropriate design or process changes. You must be a strong, passionate problem-solver with an action-oriented, customer centric, collaborative mindset who strives to exceed expectations. Must have strong organizational and time management skills to manage delivering on-time resolution to the high volume of issues, requests, and activities originating from business leads/users with the goal of building trust while ultimately delivering on commitments that enable the businesses to continue operations with minimal to no disruption. This position will be at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered. This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Experience in managing programs or parts of a program including successfully managing small groups of engineers under technical guidance.

  • Experience as a project leader managing scope, schedule, and budget for engineering activities
  • Knowledge and experience applying Earned Value Management System (EVMS) performance metrics
  • Previous experience working industry standards, Configuration Management, Engineering Changes and PLM processes.
  • Experience with Teamcenter PLM and related workflows to manage releases and changes to parts, documents and CAD data.
  • Strong experiences on the change management process holistically.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Project/Program Management.
  • General understanding of Engineering/Manufacturing/Quality Process and Practices.
  • Experience working with projects and teams within a highly matrixed organization.
  • Knowledge in scripting to create automated workflows.
  • Experience with LS-Dyna is a plus.
  • Experience in Siemens NX and/or CATIA V5 or similar CAD packages.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the activities of a team of engineers that will continuously improve the efficiency and productivity of the support being provided to various businesses
  • Lead and oversight a team that supports Engineering Change process
  • Analyze engineering change requests, audit changes, and monitor outstanding engineering work
  • Lead day-to-day execution in PLM across multiple business units, automation and integration projects (PLM, SLM, MES, ERP, etc.), continuous improvement activities and leveraging best practices via partnership with Collins Digital Technology for development and deployment support.
  • General oversight for the team performance to ensure timely incorporation of change releases, generated x-class requests, proper document marking is achieved, and submittal of technical engineering correspondences are timely completed according to process requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with SMEs and business units to ensure high-quality support and trust.
  • Ensure minimal operational disruption while maintaining compliance with configuration management, change management, engineering, and global trade requirements.
  • Manage project planning, budgeting, and process development to ensure on-time, on-budget completion.
  • Oversee recruitment, placement, and performance evaluation of engineering project staff.
  • Lead career development and succession planning for direct reports.
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with AS Business Units and Product Line leaders to enhance productivity and drive process improvements.
  • Manage a team of engineers, assign resources, define objectives, and develop a staffing strategy.
  • Provide technical guidance and foster team knowledge and skills development.
  • Track individual and team performance metrics, conduct reviews, and hold regular one-on-ones.
  • Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit.
