Engineering Manager, Mobile Developer Productivity, Level 6

Our Mobile Developer Productivity group is responsible for empowering Snap engineers to move as fast as possible. With hundreds of mobile engineers shipping features across our super-app, we design frameworks and tools that let our engineers go from idea to reality quickly and safely. We own Core Frameworks including databases and app architecture, as well as tools like our build system and IDE integrations. We tackle problems such as migrating millions of lines of Objective C to Swift via smart incremental rewrites, migrating to Bazel and a monorepo, leading programs and a culture that scalably drives down tech debt, and more. We're looking for a seasoned Software Engineering Manager to join Snap and lead developer productivity at this critical time as we re-imagine software engineering in the era of AI!
Requirements
- Background with high scale iOS or Android development
- Experience with leading an engineering team
- Ability leading and executing large, complex technical initiatives
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience
- 8+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience; or a Master’s degree in a technical field + 7+ year of post-grad software development experience; or a PhD in a related technical field + 4+ years of post-grad software development experience
- 1+ years of experience as manager for an engineering team
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with the driving large scale initiatives from ideation to completion
- Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments
- Experience with Ops-heavy systems/products
- Experience deploying agentic tools for coding and software development process optimization
- Experience managing managers and technical leads
- Experience with Bazel, compilers, dependency injection frameworks such as Dagger
- Experience with cross-platform development frameworks

- Manage and mentor a team of developers, in a fast-paced, quick-to-market environment
- Set the strategy, build a roadmap, create measurable goals, and lead your team to deliver
- Collaborate with Product, Operation, Data Science and Engineering teams, and executive stakeholders
- Evaluate the technical tradeoffs of major decisions and be a strong technical mentor
- Hire, grow and retain high-performing team members
