Engineering Manager - Identity and Access Management Platform
About The Position
In this role, you will lead a team of backend engineers responsible for developing and scaling identity and access management solutions that enable secure, efficient, and compliant customer onboarding. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and external partners to deliver a high-performance platform built on modern cloud and microservices architectures. This role balances hands-on coding with strategic leadership, including mentoring engineers, driving system design decisions, and implementing enterprise-grade IAM and authentication solutions. You will focus on optimizing scalability, security, and compliance while fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment. Requirements
- Bachelorâs degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with at least 1 year in a management role while remaining hands-on in coding
- Proficiency in Go, Docker, PostgreSQL, and API design tools (Protocol Buffers, OpenAPI, Swagger)
- Experience with cloud computing and container orchestration platforms, preferably Kubernetes
- Deep understanding of IAM platforms (Auth0, Okta, or similar), OAuth 2.0/OIDC, SAML, multi-tenant architectures, RBAC/ABAC policies, and token management
- Strong grasp of software development lifecycle, CI/CD, testing, and system maintenance
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills with ability to convey complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment while managing priorities and deadlines
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of backend engineers, providing mentorship, career development, and performance feedback
- Oversee system architecture, design, and technical decision-making for the IAM platform, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance
- Contribute to code approximately 20% of the time, maintaining technical excellence while managing the team
- Drive major initiatives from concept through delivery, including multi-tenant IAM architecture, token management strategies, and SCIM integrations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and external partners to deliver solutions that meet business and customer needs
- Implement engineering best practices, operational standards, and performance metrics to ensure high-quality delivery
