Leveraging our team's extensive background in building streaming systems, we create infrastructure that is simple to operate and adaptable to diverse business requirements. With the successful launch of products such as Snowpipe Streaming, Dynamic Tables, and Iceberg Auto-refresh, our user base is rapidly expanding. We are growing our team to meet this increasing demand. We are seeking a talented Engineering Manager for our Data Platform team in Bellevue, Washington as we scale the team for the next phase of growth.

Requirements

  • 7+ years industry experience designing and building distributed data systems, especially with a focus in database systems internals
  • 3+ years of software engineering management experience
  • A track record of recruiting, leading, and growing high performing technical teams in a demanding talent market
  • Experience building enterprise grade software - reliable, secure, and trustworthy platforms and distributed systems at large scale
  • Excellent problem solving skills, and strong CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems
  • Proven experience with authoring roadmap documents, project plans and RCAs
  • Fluency in Java or C++
  • Ability to work in a globally distributed team, collaborate well across disciplines, and mentor junior engineers
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Outstanding written and oral English language skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
  • Ability to work on-site in our Bellevue, WA

Responsibilities

  • Set the strategic vision for your team and be accountable for team plans and deliverables
  • Drive team projects from idea formulation, through design and implementation collaborating with partner teams
  • Shift resources across areas and projects to achieve execution goals and to respond to lessons from customer and production issues
  • Provide strong technical leadership to the team with a focus on quality, performance, and scale
  • Foster a culture of creativity and innovation while also promoting practical decision-making
  • Grow and build a strong, healthy, and diverse team by participating in all steps of the recruiting process from sourcing to closing
  • Be responsible for the career development of your reports, providing continuous mentorship and coaching
