The Engineering Manager - Calibration is responsible for overseeing a team of engineering and technical personnel in the completion of engineering or testing projects. Their duties include hiring and training qualified engineering staff, setting project budgets and timelines for completion and helping their staff to execute the project deliverables. The Engineering Manager will collaborate with other team leaders and departments to ensure program profitability and success. This position is located in Livonia, MI.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience.
Minimum of 2 years of management experience.

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of program management tools (risk analyses, communication plans, timing plans, business cases, comprehensive financial analyses).
Strong leadership and management skills, ability to solve complex problems, work independently, and be customer focused while managing cost, quality, and delivery.
Master’s degree in engineering or MBA.
5 years of experience in a Senior or Lead engineering capacity.
Lead a group of calibration engineers through all aspects of a program’s lifecycle, including concept design, system engineering, vehicle integration, prototyping, development testing and validation, and production implementation.
Develop, track, and report on timing plans, cost estimates, and major program deliverables for both internal review by powertrain management and external customer review.
Ensure calibration deliverables meet customer requirements and performance specifications.
Oversee the development and execution of each program’s Design Validation Plans and Reports (DVP&R); lead the draft and presentation of technical reports to internal and external management.
Provide technical oversight to your engineering team, including evaluations of engineering issues and customer risk assessment.
Lead the calibration effort for powertrain function, including core engine control features, throttle control and reliability monitoring, OBDII, tailpipe and evaporative emissions, and auxiliary subsystems.
Support hot climate, cold climate and high-altitude development and validation as required to meet customer objectives.

Participate in the formulation of business goals, objectives, policies, financial projections and customer quoting.
Secures the resources needed for teams to excel, including researching and proposing capital investments.

Maintains high level expertise in their field or sector.
Communicates technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
