About The Position

This position is responsible for supporting the Garland, TX facility Engineered Materials assets at Andersen Corporation. The Engineered Materials team is seeking an Engineering Lead to support operations involved in the production of various composite materials. We are looking for a candidate with a background in continuous improvement, machine troubleshooting, process engineering, and capital equipment projects. Requirements

  • Minimum of a BS Degree in Engineering, Technology, Science
  • 5-10 years of experience in quality, engineering, leadership, or area of technical support
  • Strong commitment to be a highly collaborative servant leader in all aspects of the role
  • Solid coaching and people development skills
  • Collaborative, proactive communicator; effective both 1:1 and in groups
  • Desire to work in a manufacturing environment
  • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively through written, verbal, listening and presentation skills to all levels within the organization and externally to suppliers and customers

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Lean and DMAIC analyses and problem-solving approaches
  • Experience leading technicians/engineers
  • Knowledge of quality programs and initiatives, SPC and process capability, and lean six sigma principles.
  • Experience working with collaborative, cross functional teams
  • Comfortable working remotely with other process owners in various areas of the country
  • Strong aptitude in problem solving using analytical tools and marking process improvements
  • Experience with change management strategies
  • Background in composites technologies i.e. extrusion, compounding, blending preferred.
  • Background in manufacturing preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic corporate finance, budgeting, accounting
  • Knowledge of 2D & 3D CAD

Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of technicians to establish and maintain strategic deployment of goals and objectives of Texas Compounding
  • Leads the commercialization of new materials and processes from development to operations
  • Is responsible for identifying, implementing, and monitoring appropriate key performance metrics for the area
  • Proactively identifies advances in technology and works collaboratively with RD&I to create a roadmap and put practices into place
  • Plans, coordinates, reviews, completes, and assigns technical work
  • Drives continuous improvement, improved customer satisfaction, reduced waste, increased efficiency and elimination of variation in processes.
  • Lead projects aligned to lean six sigma principles, leads cost reductions, and yields improvements with delivery partners.
  • Strong understanding of DMAIC tools; when to apply them, interpretation of results, and application of effective solutions to drive improvement activity.
  • Collaborates with delivery partners to determine the appropriate priority for projects using data driven decision making and a balance of day- to- day operations support.
  • Help establish, monitor, analyze, and control department budget
  • Demonstrates continued personal growth and development. Mentor developing technicians.
  • Develop strong working relationship with RD&I, operations management, supply chain, and other business partners in order to build and deliver strategic goals.
  • Work collaboratively with other plant technology leadership peers to transfer delivery results and aid in proactive problem solving.
  • Leads, assigns work, and reviews performance of technicians.
  • Assists in the development of the future structure of the team which includes the development of key roles and processes.
  • Builds collaborative relationships across the organization.
  • Interfaces with business partners groups responsible for our processes and methodologies, i.e. QMS, PDP, or continuous product or process improvement.
  • Take part in governance, approval or building of methodologies or processes.
