PURPOSE: Provide technical expertise and lead technological advances within a complex technology or process (ex. supermarket, thermal break, fabrication, assembly) through individual contributions and leadership of engineering team members in support of Andersen Aluminum operations. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Sits on the Tier 4 leadership team for Andersen Aluminum operations Supports and fosters an environment of continuous improvement by challenging existing processes and implementing solutions that enhance the overall effectiveness of the operation. Leads the commercialization of new materials and processes from development to operations. Identifies, implements, and monitors appropriate key performance metrics for the area. Takes a leadership role in identifying and implementing corrective action when metrics are not achieved. Plans, coordinates, and assigns technical work. Assists associates in daily work performance and mentors technical skill development. Communicates performance standards and expectations to the associates - recognizing and rewarding individual and team accomplishments and counseling performance problems. Assists with associate selection, performance reviews, and administration of work policy. Creates and maintains a safe work environment. Participates in and, at times, leads safety incident and near miss investigations. Active participant in the plant(s) safety committee and proponent for improved safety performance. Effectively documents and communicates technical capabilities and advancements. Collaborates with development, engineering, scheduling, production, and facility engineering on improvement programs for the areas supported. Interfaces with development and customer team members on design for manufacturability, process capability, and initial production runs. Establishes and helps manage relationships with vendors and internal suppliers. Assists in negotiating contracts, ordering tooling and supplies, and receiving & tracking of materials. Help establish, monitor, analyze, and control department budget. Demonstrates continued personal growth and development. SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Encourages involvement aimed at improving the performance of individuals to improve overall operation effectiveness. Uses a data-driven problem-solving approach to troubleshoot process issues. Maintains professional relations with the crew to help secure efficient operation and high morale. Carries out the company’s policies and programs.
