About The Position

The Lead Engineer - Product Line Support is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of standardized product designs and assembly processes. The engineer provides technical expertise, resolves design-related issues, and implements continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reliability, and cost-efficiency. By developing documentation, supporting cross-functional teams, and facilitating training, they ensure seamless integration of standardized products into production. This Lead Engineer is responsible for supporting Panelboard and Switchboard operational site (Sumter) with regard to the design accuracy of existing products and the launch of new features. Product line engineering liason in the plant Be the local expert in codes and standards related to the products produced in the facility. (UL, NEC, CSA, NEMA, CANENA) Develop/integrate best practices to ensure prompt response to all plant requests Develop a system for tracking plant requests and technical related questions Attend plant staff meetings and report out on product line engineering activities Support the launch of all PROLaunch, sustaining, MOL, and VAVE projects Support product line engineering processes for activities such as change requests and design deviations MOL project execution Support plant projects Participate in product related CI activities at the plant Monitor product warranty and service history trends. Conduct root cause analysis on systemic issues. Responsible for submitting UL requests for field visits Job site visits for both product concerns and learning

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of design or engineering experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, electronics engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 2 years of design experience with UL 50, UL 67, and UL 891
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, persuasive skills, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Work with individuals and groups to effectively participate within team environment.
  • Proficiency in Engineering software/tools (AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor & Enovia)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor
  • Knowledge of Product Life-cycle management systems and their structure
  • Fabrication methods for sheet metal, plastic, copper, and aluminum
  • Proper bus joint design
  • Up to 10% of your time traveling

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
  • Minimum 1 year of design experience with switchboards.
