Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the financial services industry, with an understanding of regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and integrating automation workflows.
  • Knowledge of messaging queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) and event-driven architectures in an infrastructure context.
  • Certifications relevant to Ansible Automation (e.g., Red Hat Certified Specialist), Chef Certified Architect, cloud platforms (AWS Certified Developer, Azure Developer Associate, etc.), or other automation/DevOps technologies.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Chaos Engineering principles and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Full Stack Platform Development: Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of automation platforms, tools, and services using modern full-stack technologies (front-end, back-end, databases, APIs).
  • Automation Platform Architecture & Implementation: Lead the architecture and implementation of the core automation platform primarily using Ansible, Chef, or Ansible Converge. Develop, standardize, and maintain the framework for automation content (e.g., Ansible playbooks, Chef cookbooks/recipes, Converge profiles).
  • Automation Strategy & Optimization: Drive the adoption and implementation of automation best practices throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and operational processes within Global Compute. This includes building automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code solutions, and self-service automation portals, leveraging deep expertise in configuration management tools.
  • Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code reviews to junior and mid-level developers within the Platform Automation group. Champion architectural best practices, coding standards, and maintain high-quality, maintainable codebases for automation tools and platforms.
  • System & Infrastructure Integration: Design and implement integrations between the automation platform and various internal systems (e.g., CMDB, ITSM, monitoring solutions) and core infrastructure components (e.g., private cloud platforms, virtualization, networking, security services) to enable seamless data flow and process automation.
  • Platform Lifecycle & Compliance: Manage the configuration and lifecycle of the automation platform's components, including master servers, agents, and repositories. Ensure the platform adheres to Citi's strict security standards, compliance regulations, and auditing requirements for a financial services environment.
  • Performance & Scalability Optimization: Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues across automation platforms and their integrations, focusing on creating highly efficient and resilient solutions for large-scale enterprise use.
  • Problem Solving & Innovation: Act as a subject matter expert, diagnosing complex technical issues related to automation and infrastructure, and proposing innovative solutions. Provide expert-level support and troubleshooting for the automation platform. Research and evaluate new automation technologies and tools to enhance Global Compute capabilities.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with infrastructure engineers, application development teams, product owners, and other stakeholders to translate platform and operational requirements into technical automation solutions.
