About The Position

The Engineering Internships at The Boring Company offer students the opportunity to take on significant responsibilities akin to regular employees. Interns will work in a dynamic environment focused on revolutionizing transportation through innovative engineering solutions. Interns can choose to work in various engineering disciplines, including Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Civil, Test, Integration, and Field Engineering, contributing to projects that enhance tunneling processes and infrastructure development.

Requirements

  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Prior experience in mechanical, software, electrical, or construction projects (industry or school).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CAD, Solidworks, PLCs, digital electronics, web technologies, or software applications.
  • Strong teamwork skills with a proven ability to effectively interact and collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Previous internship experience or participation in Not-a-Boring-Competition.

Responsibilities

  • Design or support the design of various systems and sub-systems related to operations in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical instrumentation in tunnels and on tunnel boring machines in Electrical Engineering.
  • Help build automation and application software for tunnel boring machines in Software Engineering.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to assist in the preparation of civil engineering details in Civil Engineering.
  • Design and conduct experiments to optimize the tunneling process in Test Engineering.
  • Review and provide feedback on designs and project schedules in Integration Engineering.
  • Track and report on day-to-day activities in the tunnel and assist with site surveying in Field Engineering Operations.
