About The Position
The Washtenaw County Road Commission is seeking engineering students for a Summer 2026 internship in the Construction & Design section of our Engineering Department. As an intern, you'll work directly under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer and gain valuable, hands-on experience in transportation construction. This is a great opportunity to apply your classroom knowledge in a real-world setting and explore a future career in civil engineering or construction management.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Valid Michigan driver's license
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus.
- Basic understanding of construction materials, procedures, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Supporting engineering staff on active projects.
- Assisting with project documentation, tracking, and reporting.
- Observing and monitoring contractor activities.
- Collaborating with management to improve communication and project efficiency.
- Participating in on-site inspections and construction oversight.
