Astronics LSI New York is a premiere supplier of aircraft cockpit lighting systems and keyboards and keypads for ruggedized electronic systems. We are a leader in aerospace lighting applications across military, commercial transport, and business jet/general aviation markets. As an Engineering intern you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to real-world projects and gain exposure to multiple disciplines of engineering including but not limited to design, manufacturing, and electrical. You will work closely with our team of experienced engineers and professionals, learning from their expertise and guidance. This internship will provide you with valuable insights into the aerospace industry and help you develop your technical skills and knowledge by applying classroom skills and experience in a real-world environment.

  • Provides product design and development assistance to the Mechanical Engineering group.
  • Aids engineers with general design tasks for new product development and redesign efforts.
  • Assists in creation of prototypes by coordinating with suppliers and supporting technicians during the build process.
  • Supports laboratory testing on current or new product via creation of procedural documentation and fixture design.
  • Writes technical documentation to define test and qualification procedures, reports, and product analysis.
  • Aids production by supporting operators on the floor with new builds.
  • Develops Engineering and manufacturing knowledge through real-world application.
  • Assists manufacturing engineers with production line setup and process improvement.
  • Learn manufacturing processes in detail and troubleshoot at an appropriate level.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate and clear documentation for manufacturing processes.
  • Provides electrical systems and components design and development assistance to the Electrical Engineering group.
  • Develops understanding and knowledge about electrical codes and aerospace industry standards.
  • Aids engineers with general design tasks of electrical systems and components.
  • Assists in conducting testing and analysis to ensure product performance and reliability.
  • Currently in the process of completing a four-year engineering degree.
  • 0-3 years of related work experience required.
  • Experience with solid modeling (preferably Creo) preferred but not required.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident due to federal contract obligations.
  • $21 per hour compensation.
  • Full-Time position.
