As an Engineering Intern at Interplastic’s Minneapolis plant, you will work closely with engineers, plant leadership, and cross-functional teams to support manufacturing operations, process improvements, and engineering projects. This role is designed to help students apply classroom learning in a practical setting while gaining exposure to chemical manufacturing and industrial operations.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field).
- Interest in manufacturing, process engineering, or industrial operations.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based, plant environment.
- Basic computer proficiency (Excel, Word, email, etc.).
Nice To Haves
- Previous internship, co-op, or hands-on project experience.
- Coursework related to manufacturing, chemical engineering, or materials science.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Responsibilities
- Assist with engineering projects related to manufacturing processes, equipment, and operational efficiency.
- Support data collection, analysis, and reporting to aid engineering and production decision-making.
- Participate in plant floor activities, process observations, and improvement initiatives.
- Help develop or update SOPs, work instructions, process documentation, or engineering reports.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, safety, and quality initiatives.
- Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams.
- Learn about composite materials, resin and gel coat manufacturing processes, and plant operations.
- Build professional skills in problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and time management.
