About The Position

Met Weld International MWI is a leading provider of engineered skid-mounted process systems and industrial controls for the power generation, oil & gas, nuclear, industrial and NavSea sectors. For over 35 years, Met Weld has supported global industry with a full line of services and capabilities, including integrated design, engineering, manufacturing and fabrication. Met Weld's manufacturing facility and Quality Assurance Programs deliver a controlled approach to each project and ensure the highest level of quality and service for our customers. Position Met Weld International ("MWI") is seeking a mechanical or electrical intern for the 2026 spring semester to join the activities of its Engineering Department. This position reports to the Engineering Manager in our Altamont, NY facility.

Requirements

  • Junior or Senior currently enrolled in an accredited 4-year college or university Engineering Program.
  • Hands-on individual with a strong mechanical or electrical aptitude.
  • Basic understanding of technical drawing, blueprint reading, and design principles.
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual thinking.
  • Excellent mechanical and technical skills.
  • Ability to be flexible, motivated, resourceful and organized in a multi-functional role.
  • Solid communication, organization and time management skills.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to access the shop floor to perform inspection of machinery to help assess and record as-built conditions of machinery and fabrication best practices.
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

  • Design Software: Inventor and AutoCAD experience is a preference.

Responsibilities

  • Review and revise drawings as needed based on feedback from engineers, internal customer requests, customers, or project managers.
  • Maintain and organize drawing files, records, and design documentation.
  • Verify measurements and specifications to ensure drawings are accurate and complete.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned in support of Business objectives and plans.
