Viavi is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Intern to support various functions within the Product Engineering department. This role provides hands-on experience across multiple product lines, including Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), Inertial Measurement Units (IMU), and Assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (APNT) technologies. The intern will gain exposure to product development support, production processes, system testing, and engineering workflows. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, has strong technical aptitude, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of sensors, navigation systems, or embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools or programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
  • Experience with hardware/software integration or testing is a plus.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in system setup, configuration, and basic integration of INS, IMU, and APNT products.
  • Support data collection, validation, and analysis for engineering and customer applications.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and basic root cause analysis for product performance issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on documentation, product evaluations, and internal tools.
  • Assist with calibration procedures (e.g., inertial, magnetic, system-level calibration).
  • Support production activities during peak periods or resource constraints.
  • Contribute to development and improvement of production automation tools and scripts.
  • Assist in identifying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Support execution of system and component-level test procedures.
  • Collect, document, and organize test data for internal analysis and reporting.
  • Assist in maintaining test setups and improving repeatability of test processes.
  • Work closely with Product Engineering to validate performance against requirements.
