Requirements

  • Completed 2 years of a Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering program.
  • Some experience with AutoCAD and Inventor or similar software.
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Some experience managing projects in a project-based industry.
  • Some knowledge of mechanical design including machine design, specification of motors, gears, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and understand customer and company specifications.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform with the highest ethical standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Some proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Some proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (Inventor preferred).
  • Familiarity with fabrication/welding techniques and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in researching, planning, and designing mechanical and electromechanical products and systems.
  • Directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems.
  • Product design (mechanical) and product improvement considering customer requirements, specifications, functionality, cost and manufacturability.
  • Interface with Sales, Manufacturing, Vendors, Engineering, and others.
  • Support R&D with various mechanical engineering tasks, including testing and developing test protocols.
  • Researches and analyzes data such as customer designs, proposal specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Assists in designing products or systems such as instruments, controls, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
  • Document and maintain clear and methodical documentation.
  • Use mechanical drawings, schematics, diagrams, and computers to develop specific custom applications.
  • Assist in designing safety using general principles of prevention.
  • Plans fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to develop accurate timelines and resource allocation.
  • Designs products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
  • Ensures designs meet all safety and environmental requirements.
  • Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Functions as a team member and to get along with others.
  • Reports for work on time as scheduled and ready to perform.
