The Engineering Intern - Virtual Commissioning role at Rivian Automotive is designed for undergraduate or graduate students who are pursuing degrees in engineering. The intern will focus on developing, deploying, and implementing virtual commissioning environments to facilitate the testing of control software prior to onsite implementation. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on robotics and controls engineering projects while contributing to Rivian's mission of creating emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles.

  • Aid in the development of a stable standard platform for robotics.
  • Aid in the continuous improvement of the virtual commissioning platform, identifying and addressing gaps.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of the Process Simulate add-in (C# & .NET) by managing feature requests from suppliers and internal users.
  • Undertake simulation and virtual commissioning projects both internally and externally.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's, master's, or PhD degree at an accredited university.
  • Actively pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Experience in using CAD packages such as NX, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Catia, etc.
  • Experience or keen interest in Controls Engineering (PLCs, Robotics, Networking).
  • Experience or interest in Industrial Robotics.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally for short durations.
