About The Position

Performs engineering work under the direction of a licensed Professional Engineer, investigating, evaluating, planning, computer modeling, designing, constructing, managing, or inspecting public infrastructure projects.

  • The ideal candidate must have obtained Engineer Intern Certification at the time of interview.
  • The candidate should have some experiences through education and/or previous job duties in evaluating hydraulic systems including pump stations and pressurized mains; evaluating treatment facility processes; analyzing large datasets and databases; and using ArcGIS software.

Responsibilities

  • Shadowing senior staff members, asking questions, and assisting wherever possible.
  • Understanding project requirements and completing all duties assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Raising concerns and requesting clarifications where appropriate to further the learning experience of engineering practices and the engineering profession.
  • Performs entry-level technical engineering work in a project management role within an engineering work group and/or performs technical review or design work of similar responsibility.
  • Becomes familiar with engineering knowledge and skills in a specific area of planning, design, or construction management; applies standard techniques and procedures as directed in performing a task or sequence of tasks for public infrastructure projects.
  • Under the direction of a supervisor or manager, reviews the work of engineering consultants engaged in planning survey, design, review, construction, operations, maintenance, and administration of engineering projects, programs, or systems.
  • Under the direction of a supervisor or manager, performs design tasks using current principles and practices of engineering; prepares project documents; performs construction observation; completes cost analyses, site plan reviews, feasibility studies, planning activities; and coordinates with others.
  • Assists with preparation of schedules and budgets for projects.
  • Assists with the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for road, bridge, potable water, sanitary sewage, and drainage construction.
  • Reviews surveys required for the design or construction of projects under the direction of a supervisor or manager.
  • Analyzing data and writing reports according to specifications
  • Compiling reports and data for other staff members and stakeholders
