About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for a range of support activities for the Blasthole Drills team responsible for the 320XPC, ZR77, & ZR122 drill product lines. Activities will include evaluating designs in SolidWorks computer aided design software, using SolidWorks product data management software, and working with bills of material. There will be opportunities for specific drill systems design projects based on the available workload. This position will be based onsite at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee's Harbor District! The target start date for this role is Summer 2026 and has potential to be extended into the Fall 2026 school semester. We offer full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hours during the academic year.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar, from an accredited college or university
  • Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or master's level student in good academic standing. Earliest graduation date of December 2026 for consideration.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team towards a goal
  • Excellent organization and personal time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess effective problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to be creative and resourceful when needed
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous classroom and/or work experience in one or more of the following areas: computer aided design, product data management, finite element analysis, hydraulic fluid power, diesel engines.
  • Interest in or aptitude to learn about careers in the heavy equipment industry.
  • Project management/leadership experience.
  • Hands-on mechanical experience, professional or hobby.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, structural, hydraulic, and software engineers throughout the Blastholes Drills team.
  • Develop new systems, evaluate current systems, and analyze data associated with those systems.
  • Research industry best practices and vendor information.
  • Report data-driven findings to team members using computer aided design, calculations, and presentations.
