About The Position
POWER Engineers is seeking a talented engineering student for a summer 2025 internship in our Billings, Montana office. This internship offers a unique opportunity to expand your skills and teamwork in a supportive environment that promotes professional growth and encourages innovative ideas. Under the guidance of multiple experienced engineers, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of utility substation design. Responsibilities will include detailed design of low to extra-high-voltage utility substations, which encompasses creating one-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit, and cable sizing/routing, as well as substation layout. The position may also involve performing design calculations in accordance with industry standards such as IEEE, NEC, and NESC. Interns will assist senior engineers with QA/QC design checks and support design engineers in their efforts for electric utility substation physical and protection/control design. In addition to hands-on engineering work, the selected intern will participate in professional development sessions focused on resume writing, interview tips, and building a LinkedIn profile. The Early Talent Speaker Series will provide insights from company leaders about their roles, visions for the company, and career paths, along with a Q&A session. Fun Friday activities will also be organized for interns to network and enjoy some leisure time together.
