About The Position

The Materials and Processes Engineer Intern will work under the guidance of experienced engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the development of world-class aerospace hardware. This internship is designed to develop engineering talent with a passion for aviation through hands-on exposure to rotorcraft materials and processes engineering activities, including design support, analysis, testing, and validation efforts.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Interest in aerospace materials and processes engineering; prior internship, coursework, or project experience in aerospace or manufacturing is a plus.
  • Basic familiarity with aerospace materials and inspection methods (e.g., Ultrasonic, Eddy Current, Fluorescent Dye Penetrant, Magnetic Particle Inspection, X-ray) preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document work clearly.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain positive working relationships with engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and work under supervision while progressively developing independence.

Responsibilities

  • Support cross-functional engineering teams in the review of manufacturing materials and process planning to gain exposure to aerospace production requirements and supplier capabilities.
  • Assist materials engineers in collaborating with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to help define material requirements and support implementation of production solutions.
  • Participate in qualification testing activities for new parts and/or new suppliers by assisting with test setup, data collection, and documentation, including exposure to metallurgical and fatigue testing.
  • Support engineering investigations related to hardware discrepancies by assisting in data gathering, analysis, and documentation under supervision. Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities as a learning opportunity.
  • Assist with new and/or replacement product evaluations by supporting material-related studies such as corrosion resistance, stress corrosion, fuel compatibility, and metallic and non-metallic joining techniques.
  • Participate in laboratory and manufacturing experiments, assist with data analysis, and help prepare technical reports and presentations.
  • Attend design reviews, engineering meetings, and technical discussions to gain exposure to engineering decision-making processes.
  • Conduct oneself in accordance with the Company’s Core Values.
