The Engineering Intern is responsible for supporting hands‑on engineering work focused on bringing equipment back online and supporting process improvement efforts. This role is ideal for a college student interested in automation, manufacturing technology, and equipment qualification. This position reports to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering and is part of the Manufacturing Engineering team located in Cortland, NY and will be an on‑site role. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Help resurrect and reprogram the laser weld cell for future production needs. Assist in preparing the laser welder for production qualification. Shadow a Lean Conversion (LC) or Standard Work (SW) event to learn key manufacturing improvement tools.

Requirements

  • Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in one of the following (or similar) fields: Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Electrical Engineering Industrial Engineering Mechanical Engineering Power Systems Engineering Robotics Engineering Any related engineering or technical discipline
  • Ability to walk the site, perform inspections, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing setting with appropriate PPE provided.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in automation, programming fundamentals, or manufacturing processes.
  • Willingness to be in a production environment and observe processes directly.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
