Engineering Intern - Hardware Engineering

HachLoveland, CO
$23 - $25

About The Position

As an Engineering Intern within our Hardware Engineering organization, you will work on a new product development team focused on a wet chemical process analyzer. Your primary contribution will be helping the team build confidence in the design—through hands-on testing, learning how systems behave, and helping us translate results into better engineering decisions. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Engineering Intern applies strong engineering fundamentals while growing their ability to think critically, collaborate effectively, and connect technical decisions to real-world customer outcomes. This role supports both new product development and sustaining efforts, balancing innovation with continuous improvement of products already in the field.

  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 2+ years of completed course work
  • Ability to plan experiments, analyze data, and draw objective conclusions.
  • Familiar with standard statistical and engineering techniques (For example: mean, standard deviation, regressions, and boxplots).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Interest in hands-on engineering work, including building and testing physical systems
  • Strong interest in measurement science, analytical instrumentation, or water quality.
  • Curiosity about how complex systems behave and a willingness to dig into details
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly within a team
  • Comfort working in a lab environment with mechanical components and test setups

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on laboratory experience with wet chemistry or reagent formulation
  • Experience with Minitab; familiarity with design of experiments (DOE) and Gage R&Rs
  • Familiarity with measurement uncertainty concepts

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering testing by helping design, set up, and execute experiments on subsystems and full assemblies
  • Work alongside engineers to build and test hardware prototypes, contributing to iterative design improvements
  • Collect, analyze, and communicate test data to help the team understand system performance and tradeoffs
  • Assist in preparing and supporting system builds and evaluation activities
  • Contribute to troubleshooting efforts—learning how mechanical systems behave in real-world conditions
  • Document learnings clearly so that insights can be shared across the team
  • Assist with experimental design and execution to characterize the performance of components, sub-systems and systems.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data using statistical and engineering methods.
  • Performing root-causing activities and analysis.
