About The Position

Stantec is looking for an intern for our Plymouth, MN location to work primarily within our environmental, engineering, and construction team within Environmental Services. Opportunities exist to support other civil, infrastructure and environmental groups in the metro area, dependent on workload. As an intern, you can expect to carry out a variety of different tasks related to engineering and construction. The primary duties for this internship position will entail construction observation, QA/QC testing, and communication with contractors and clients. The wide variety of tasks you'll be involved in makes every day interesting by expanding your knowledge as you gain field and office experience. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field OR an Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related program.
  • Previous construction observation experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions.
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs. and do repetitive work such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Strong communication skills and customer service experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with soil testing, surveying, drafting.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Serve internal and external clients by being responsive and reliable.
  • Ensure safety practices in the field and office.
  • Conduct construction observation and documentation, field testing and field measurements.
  • Prepare construction progress reports and communicate with project team, contractor, and client as required.
  • Perform soil and water sampling.
  • Assist with drafting, computer modeling, data entry, preparation of construction plans and specifications, technical memos, and reports.
  • Provide support to other groups within Stantec as business needs dictate.
