About The Position

BHMG Engineers is currently looking for an engineering co-op for our Substation or Line Design team. This position will be located on-site at either our Collinsville, IL or St. Louis, MO office. The Engineering Co-Op is a position reporting to an experienced engineer or designer. This position will have the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers, designers and drafters on our design team to provide design, specifications and construction documents. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in power and design of electrical systems.

Requirements

  • Currently a junior or senior enrolled in an ABET accredited Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering program.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization in a team environment.
  • Software experience preferred: MS Office, AutoCAD
  • Possess an entrepreneur type mindset.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments and manage changing assignments in a team environment.
  • Must be able to solve problems with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive, good communicator (oral and written), able to effectively multitask and prioritize, and needs strong analytical and problem-solving skills to trouble shoot and assess key issues to address.
  • Ability to collaborate, build relationships and work effectively with a team and key stakeholders in order to understand and deliver on client requests.

Responsibilities

  • Gather all pertinent information of projects and document scope of each project under the guidance of an experienced engineer or designer.
  • Learn client and industry standards.
  • Prepare material lists, plan, elevation and detail drawings for substation or line projects in coordination with other team members.
  • Prepare engineering and construction drawings.
  • Gain understanding of BHMG quality management system (QMS).
  • Assist Project Engineer and support other team members in preparing calculations and documentation.
  • Regularly meet and correspond with design team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
