About The Position
IKO Industries Ltd. is seeking a Fall 2024 Engineering Co-Op/Intern to join our team in Kankakee, IL. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the manufacturing sector, specifically within the roofing and building materials industry. The Engineering Co-Op/Intern will work closely with various functional areas to understand plant operations, processes, and equipment. This role is designed for individuals who are pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering and are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting. In this position, you will engage in projects aimed at improving efficiency, reducing waste, and enhancing energy-related processes. You will support project delivery by liaising with clients and contractor representatives, assisting in the development of visual management tools, and implementing standard work instructions. Additionally, you will collect and analyze data from our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to identify common failure modes and conduct job hazard analyses to ensure workplace safety. The role also involves facilitating the implementation of 5S Lean Manufacturing systems, which are crucial for maintaining an organized and efficient manufacturing environment. This internship is a full-time or part-time temporary position, with competitive pay ranging from $24.00 to $25.00 per hour. There is also the option to continue working during the summer, providing a seamless transition from academic learning to practical application in a stable and respected industry leader.
