Engineering Intern / Co-Op Pipeline

We are currently seeking interns and co-ops for our Advanced Technologies division located in Lynchburg, VA, for the summer of 2025. This job posting serves as a pipeline to fulfill various engineering positions as needed. Our company is a leader in providing safe and effective nuclear solutions for national security, clean energy, environmental remediation, nuclear medicine, and space exploration. With approximately 6,400 employees and 12 major operating sites across the U.S. and Canada, BWXT is the sole manufacturer of naval nuclear reactors for U.S. submarines and aircraft carriers. We supply precision manufactured components, services, and fuel for the commercial nuclear power industry across four continents, and our joint ventures provide environmental remediation and nuclear operations management at numerous U.S. Department of Energy and NASA facilities. Interns and co-ops will have the opportunity to work in various engineering disciplines, including Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Core Design, Thermal Hydraulic Design, Nuclear Engineering, System Design, Materials Science/Engineering, Additive Manufacturing, Test Engineering, Nuclear Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Research Support, Radiation Shielding, Aerospace Engineering, AI/Machine Learning, Chemistry/Chemical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Data Science/Engineering, Fuel Performance Engineering, and Instrumentation and Control/Electrical Engineering. The primary responsibilities of the interns/co-ops will include developing and delivering unique engineering solutions used in a nuclear environment, creating and updating drawings and procedures, designing, testing, examining, managing projects, and procuring materials as needed. Additionally, interns will be expected to perform other duties as assigned and develop and present final reports on their work.
