Britten is looking for an Engineering Intern to assist with the prototyping and development of custom components using 3D printing. This role focuses on CAD iteration, printer operation, and hands-on support in a fast-paced shop and R&D environment. Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Industrial Design, Engineering, Architecture, Product Design, or related field
  • Hands-on experience with FDM 3D printing required
  • Proficient in CAD software (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Rhino, or similar)
  • Basic knowledge of common materials (PLA, PETG, ABS, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving and mechanical skills
  • Able to work independently in a hands-on environment
  • Detail-oriented and organized

Responsibilities

  • Support prototyping of light fixtures and custom parts using 3D printing
  • Modify and improve CAD designs for performance and print efficiency
  • Operate and monitor multiple 3D printers
  • Perform routine maintenance (calibration, nozzle changes, troubleshooting)
  • Test materials and document print settings and results
  • Assist in creating jigs, fixtures, and fabrication tools
  • Keep the print lab and materials organized
  • Support general R&D and shop tasks as needed
