The Engineering Instructor at Ventura County Community College District is a full-time, tenure-track position responsible for providing comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds. The role aims to facilitate students' academic and vocational objectives, with a focus on developing cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher-order thinking skills. The position will begin in the Fall 2025 semester at Oxnard College.

  • Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses.
  • Assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher-order thinking skills among students.
  • Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study and effective study skills.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives.
  • Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines.
  • Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment and student academic progress.
  • Evaluate and select instructional materials in collaboration with discipline faculty.
  • Participate in curriculum and program development.
  • Revise and update course content and materials of instruction.
  • Attend and participate in committees and meetings.
  • May provide work direction to others.
  • Master's in any field of engineering OR Bachelor's in engineering AND Master's in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, or geology.
  • Possession of an appropriate California Community College Credential.
  • All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university.
  • Experience in teaching at the community college level.
  • Familiarity with diverse educational backgrounds and learning styles.
