The Engineering & Industrial Design Academy is looking for a full time teacher that will lead students in hands-on, project-based learning experiences focused on engineering design, manufacturing, prototyping, and industrial design processes. This instructor will facilitate authentic industry-partner projects that require students to apply engineering principles, design thinking, CAD/CAM tools, 3D printers, and fabrication techniques while being assessed through proficiency-based grading. The role emphasizes guiding students through iterative design cycles, problem identification, prototyping, testing, and presentation of solutions to industry partners and community stakeholders. The instructor will collaborate with industry professionals, interdisciplinary academy staff, and all high schools in the district to ensure alignment with workforce needs and postsecondary pathways. Responsibilities include mentoring student teams, maintaining lab/makerspace environments, integrating safety and industry standards, and supporting student portfolios, certifications, and career readiness experiences. Ideal candidates have a background in engineering, industrial design, manufacturing, or related fields; industry experience, relevant certifications, and the USBE Engineering & Mechanical Design Endorsements are preferred. The successful candidate will be an innovative educator who values collaboration, real-world learning, and preparing students for engineering, technical careers, and further education.
