About The Position

In this role, you will assist with conducting geologic and materials explorations and preparing maps and technical reports. You will participate in ground investigating, sample logging, material testing, groundwater measuring, and presenting findings. Your work will help address technical problems and contribute to the safety of personnel and structures during drilling and sampling operations. This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, or other related Geosciences discipline.
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
  • United States Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green Card Holder) to be considered for employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with geology software for aquifer test analyses and groundwater flow and transport models, including but not limited to AQTESOLV, MODFLOW, and MT3D.
  • Proficiency in geological and geotechnical data management and visualization (e.g., Leapfrog, OpenGround, etc.).
  • Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, computer graphics, and other appropriate computer applications to facilitate the compilation and analysis of data collection activities.
  • Ability to resolve technical issues with other geologists, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, regulatory agencies, and the client.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and remain at jobsites for an extended time.
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct geologic and materials explorations for the preparation of technical reports for engineering features such as dams, dikes, canals, bridges, power plants, refineries, pipelines, pumping plants, mining facilities, transportation and infrastructure facilities, roads, and tunnels.
  • Participate in ground investigation programs and address technical problems, including determining required drilling equipment to properly conduct site investigations and ensuring safety of personnel and structures during drilling and sampling operations.
  • Coordinate with engineers to determine what geologic investigations are necessary.
  • Collect and summarize groundwater measurements and instrumentation data.
  • Prepare specifications and geologic drawings for engineering projects.
  • Participate in project meetings to present geologic findings.
  • Log drill core, auger hole samples, test pit materials, and surface geologic exposures.
  • Map surface geology and exposures in construction excavations.
