About The Position

AECOM is currently seeking Engineering Geologist candidates to support Geo-Civil projects from our Orange, California office. The role involves performing geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards and site characterization. Responsibilities include providing support on the design and installation of ground water wells and geotechnical instrumentation, interpreting site conditions, developing geologic models, conducting geologic research, and performing liaison activities with regulatory agencies. Collaboration with geotechnical and structural engineers to develop robust dam designs is also a key aspect of the role. Additionally, the position requires assisting in the preparation of project documentation including reports, project communications, and design drawings.

Requirements

  • BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalence of experience and/or education
  • Valid US Drivers License required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering Geology or Geological Engineering (Master's preferred)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with complex subsurface investigations including soil and rock core drilling
  • Installation of piezometers and geotechnical instrumentation
  • Willingness to travel regularly for domestic and international projects
  • Ability to work on multiple project tasks and meet deadlines with aggressive schedules
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • GIT Certification
  • Experience with geotechnical projects including dams, mine tailings dams and water storage dams
  • Analytical skills and knowledge of geological and geotechnical software (i.e., RocScience, Geo-Slope, gINT)

Responsibilities

  • Perform geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards and site characterization
  • Provide support on the design and installation of ground water wells and geotechnical instrumentation
  • Provide interpretation of site conditions including geologic, geochemical, and geophysical data and prepare geotechnical and geologic reports
  • Develop geologic models for complex geologic site conditions
  • Conduct geologic research and develop innovative ways to advance projects with the latest technologies
  • Perform liaison activities with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients
  • Collaborate with geotechnical and structural engineers to develop robust dam designs
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation including reports, project communications, and design drawings
