About the position
The Engineering Extern position is a Phways Internship opportunity with the Office of Environmental Health & Engineering within the Gre Plains Area Indian Health Service. This role is designed for students enrolled in an ABET accredited Engineering Program, providing them with hands-on experience that complements their academic studies. Interns will assist in various engineering tasks and projects, gaining practical skills while contributing to the Indian Health Programs.
Responsibilities
- Assist preceptor in data collection and inspection in the field.
- Assist and prepare engineering reports on assigned projects.
- Assist with day-to-day administrative operations by performing engineering-related tasks or other functions.
- Assist in field data gathering and project oversight.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in an ABET accredited Engineering Program.
- Completion of at least 30 semester hours of post-high school study for GS-3 level, 60 semester hours for GS-4 level, or 120 semester hours for GS-5 level.
- Minimum GPA above 2.0.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with data collection and analysis.
- Familiarity with engineering report preparation.
- Knowledge of environmental health and engineering principles.
