Leidos' Defense Systems Land Systems is seeking qualified Mechanical/Electrical Drafter for its Rapid Integration and Prototyping (RIP) Department. Based in Huntsville, Alabama, RIP provides responsive, cost-effective engineering solutions. The selected candidate will support numerous systems and projects from land-based array platforms to aerial sensor solutions. The successful candidate will serve as a Mechanical/Electrical Drafter that will handle all aspects of capturing mechanical designs for 2D drawings/schematics and 3D models. Specific duties may encompass parts dimensioning and tolerances, material and finish specification of components, wiring schematic layouts, and top-level systems technical data packages. Areas of work will include documenting mechanical and electrical designs, 3D design and printing of parts, hardware and wiring selection, and small level assembly of parts and components.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Mechanical Drafting or equivalent field is required with 2+ years of relevant experience using Solidworks. In lieu of an Associate's degree, an additional 3+ years of experience using Solidworks for mechanical design is acceptable.
  • US Citizenship is required with eligibility to obtain and maintain secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with drafting of mechanical aspects
  • Knowledge of ASME drawing standards
  • 3D printing experience including part design and various printing methods
  • Experience with compatible materials, fasteners, coatings, processes, and assembly methods
  • Organization skills to document designs, assist with Technical Data Packages (TDP)
  • Creating up to Level 3 TDPs to MIL-STD-31000
