You’ll be part of the Mobile Engineering team whose mission is to be essential in our customers’ digital lives by providing value, convenience, and delight wherever they are. You will be responsible for leading a team of mobile engineers building mobile applications that will be used by tens of millions of American Express Customers around the world. We’re looking for a Director, Software Engineering to lead the Mobile Platform team. Mobile Platform builds the foundational capabilities that enable product/feature teams to deliver high-quality experiences faster across the American Express App and Travel apps. Your primary customers are internal mobile feature teams—and you will be accountable for measurable improvements in developer productivity, delivery speed, and app quality. Mobile Platform Ownership CI/CD, build systems, and release engineering (end-to-end), including app store submission workflows Monorepo strategy, developer workflows, dependency management, and code health automation Automation & quality systems: test frameworks, quality gates, performance regression detection, and reliability guardrails AI developer tooling that accelerates engineering workflows with appropriate governance and security Design system and shared UI components to increase reuse, consistency, accessibility, and compliance Push notifications platform enablement: SDKs/abstractions and observability Platform documentation improvements and updates Platform engineering for analytics and experimentation. Automating and managing remediation of vulnerabilities and other risk metrics. Partnership with SRE and Ops to improve operability, monitoring, incident response, and release health
