About The Position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Designer to join our Water Team in Blacksburg, VA, where you’ll support the planning and design of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects that serve communities every day. This unique opportunity blends technical drafting, field exposure, and interdisciplinary coordination—helping translate engineering solutions into buildable designs that promote sustainable, resilient water systems.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Science, or a related technical field required
• No prior experience required—related document production experience preferred
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving
• Familiarity with design software (AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, etc.) and a willingness to learn about respective engineering discipline

Responsibilities

• Produce and revise simple engineering drawings or sketches under the guidance of senior designers or engineers, following established technical standards
• Examine drawings for accuracy and quality with support from senior team members
• Participate in project review meetings and accompany senior staff on field assignments when appropriate
• Utilize drawing production software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and REVIT to create construction documents
• Assist with contract document preparation in order to develop familiarity with discipline-specific codes, standards, and design practices
