Engineering Designer / Field Support – EV Infrastructure

MasTec is seeking an Engineering Designer / Field Support professional. With strong emphasis on electrical design supporting EV charging, and other infrastructure projects. This role is part of engineering team, conducting site visits, gathering detailed field data, and supporting design documentation utilizing CAD software. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being in the field, working closely with engineers, and supporting construction-ready designs.
Requirements
- Background in electrical design, plan preparation and construction support.
- Knowledge and Experience of the latest AutoCAD or similar CAD software packages.
- Comfortable conducting site visits and working independently in the field.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineers and project teams.
- Willingness to travel as needed for site visits.
Nice To Haves
- Experience supporting EV charging or electrical infrastructure projects.
- Construction or design-build project experience.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience working with Jurisdictional Authorities, project construction teams and public utilities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct site visits to support EV charging and other infrastructure projects.
- Gather field data including measurements, photos, notes, and existing site conditions.
- Communicate field findings clearly to internal engineering team.
- Support electrical design updates and redlines of construction documents.
- Assist with preparation of construction-ready drawings CAD software.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure designs reflect real-world conditions.
- Support ongoing coordination between field, engineering, and construction teams.
- Maintain organized documentation from site visits and design updates.
