Summary: Design air-cooled heat exchangers per customer specification and American Society of Mechanical Engineering codes by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Check designs and drawings of other Mechanical Design Engineers. Train Design Engineers on ASME code, API 661, ASCE, AISC, Quality Work Instructions, design software, design processes and templates, and Kelvion manufacturing standards. Provide on-going on-the-job training to facilitate continuous performance improvement. Monitor and facilitate Design Engineer performance to maximize productivity, efficiency, and issue design drawings/calculations on time. Ensure scheduled completion dates are met. Implement process improvements to improve engineering efficiency, quality, and lower product cost. Keep Engineering Director informed of systemic changes, job schedules and issues, and other department issues. Design air-cooled heat exchangers as required to meet customer demands. Communicate with sales, customer, shop and detail drafters. Regular attendance, ability to arrive at work punctually, ability to work on–site, ability to work overtime. Ability to work cooperatively with others, ability to deal respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, other employees, managers, and executive management. Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to interchange with others in the department. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Ability to supervise 5 to 15 non-exempt employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Kelvion’s policies, procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities will include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Directing employees’ work; providing for the safety of the employees; planning the work; determining the techniques to be used; apportioning the work among the workers.
